Create 6.5 mm unthreaded holes for mounting
¶ Prep
¶ Tools and Hardware Needed:
- Center punch
- Drill
- 3mm pilot hole drill bit
- 6.5mm Drill bit
- (3 or more) X-Axis frame beams
¶ Printed Parts Needed
- Assembly Tool #2 - X Frame Marker
¶ When complete, verify
- Each X-Axis frame beam end should have at least 8 holes, as shown in Figure 2.3.
- All above holes should be 6.5 mm.
- (optional) X-Axis frame beams can have an extra hole of desired size for cable management, as shown in Figure 2.2.
- None of the holes need to be tapped.
¶ Build Steps:

- Identify and label the two X-Axis frame beams with most similar lengths. These two will be used as the outermost supports when assembling the frame to help ensure the Y-Axis is parallel. For example, if you've got a pair of X Axis frame beams that are 1300mm and one that is 1302mm, you'll want the 1300mm beams to be on the outside.

- Position Assembly Tool #2 on the top face of one of the labeled beams with the number facing down and all tabs securely holding position as shown in Figure 2.1.

- Mark all 4 corner holes with a punch.

- Flip the frame beam over and mark the other side as you did in steps 2 and 3. This ensures that the holes you drill will be properly aligned, top and bottom.

- (optional) Mark the center hole with a punch. This hole made here is commonly used to pass sensor wires and can be used in conjunction with a hole in the Y-Axis frame beams to help keep wiring neat.

- Repeat steps 2 through 5 on all ends of the X-Axis frame beams.

- Drill all marked points with a 3mm pilot bit and then follow up with a 6.5mm bit.
